Formed early 2003, Jeremy Bennett (bass), Josh Wilson (Bass) and Aaron Fanning (percussion) started Spirit of the Stairs as an experiment in sound. Torin Andersen – Theta (guitar) joined soon after to expand the dynamic. Aaron parted ways and was replaced shortly by Doug Mckinney – Everest, and then Kyle Hupp – Stavesacre, the Stab. Sots released “The Shape of Hope” in early 2005 and most recently “Spirit of the Stairs” in October of 2007. The group has taken on two new elements with Kody Ramsey (percussion) – Ricky Fitts and Zack Roach (guitar) – The Empress. Torin, Kody and Zack had performed together in the group You’ll be a Torso which has merged together with SotS. Zack Roach is also in the band Senses Fail.
